  We have eaten at the Odd Rainbow on several occasions and enjoyed all of our meals. It's easy to see the owners take pride in their business serving and preparing the meals themselves. Very clean with lots of seating and parking. Great spot for a meal!

  There’s a new sheriff in town! Well, maybe not a sheriff, but there’s definitely a new hashery in town, and by all accounts, it’s packing them in! Perched at the top of Ferry Wharf Road, just after driving off (you guessed it- the ferry!) is ‘The Odd Rainbow’! It’s been open a week or so now, but last night was our first opportunity to try out their menu! It’s run by two partners who are clearly in it for the love of the food. You get some sense of their passion as they describe the menu- the origin of each dish, and why they feel each one is a invaluable addition. After such a rousing discussion with fellow foodies,, I’m completely caught up in their enthusiasm! Now, what to have? Since there were four of us, with any luck, I thought I might get to taste a bit of everybody else’s dinner. I’m nothing if not optimistic! After much muttering and collusion, these were our picks. Lasagne. Spaghetti and Meatballs, Shrimp Stir Fry and the Grand Mananer! My husband considers himself something of of a lasagne aficionado (if there is such a thing) and it’s very seldom he finds one up to his standards. It arrived, bubbling with cheese and tomato sauce and he dove in, pronouncing it delicious! He went on to say that the sauce was full of chunks of peppers and vegetables and clearly somebody’s homemade price recipe. Our friend had much the same experience with the spaghetti and meatballs. As for the shrimp stir fry, our other diner claimed it was excellent, and quickly finished it off before I had opportunity to diplomatically suggest she might like to share a small taste. Obviously, she was one step ahead of me! I had the Grand Mananer, and it was yummy! Any Grand Mananer knows that dulse heated on a wood stove is a whole other taste treat, and while I don’t think the Odd Rainbow had a wood stove stashed out back, the affect was the same. Smoky and crunchy and a delicious addition to the ground beef burger. No prefab here! Unfortunately, we didn’t have time for dessert, although some of the choices looked delicious! Since they’ve been opened less than two weeks, the staff appears to be dealing with a couple of growing pains; I observed people waiting to be served and I did ask about a liquor license, which is in the works as well. It would be great to have a nice Barolo wth that lasagne. So it looks to me like the Odd Rainbow is for odd ducks; those not so odd, and those of the medium odd variety. I’m pretty sure my group was pretty heavy on the odd!
